Today, I’m going to help a Personal Trainer, Sam, explode his fitness business online.

Like a lot of PTs, Sam has a bunch of things that he needs to work on with his mindset when it comes to growing his fitness business.

and a lot of them are “Limiting Beliefs.”

A limiting belief is a thought or state of mind that you think is the absolute truth and stops you from doing certain things.

These beliefs don’t always have to be about yourself, either. They could be about how the world works, ideas, and how you interact with people.

During this conversation with Sam, we will “unpack” some of his thoughts and turn them into actions to help him grow his business.

My mission for this is to help you grow yours too!

Let’s dive in…

Hey, I’m Sam,, and I’m struggling to get online clients!

I have been in the industry for a while, but the transition to online training has been difficult for me!

Ok Sam, please tell me some of the problems that you’re having….

One of the biggest problems I face is competition.

There are so many trainers offering online services, and it can be hard to stand out. I feel like I am constantly fighting for visibility, trying to get my name and face out there in a sea of other trainers.

The biggest problem you face is not competition... it's COMPARISON.⁣ ⁣

One massive problem that Personal Trainers have is Following other Personal Trainers.⁣ ⁣

Your newsfeed is filled with people offering their programmes and services, so no wonder you feel like it's a saturated market!⁣ ⁣

Here's what you need to do...⁣

👉 Stop following other personal trainers⁣ ⁣

👉 Understand that Personal Trainers don't pay your bills, your clients do.⁣ ⁣

👉 Focus on the people that like and follow you. Ask them what their problems are and create content around those problems looking to solve them.⁣

Another issue is the lack of personal connection with clients.

In-person training allowed me to build client relationships, but online training feels impersonal and disconnected.

I feel like I am just a voice on the other end of a screen, and it can be difficult to connect with clients in the same way.

I get where you're coming from, however...⁣ ⁣

My last "in-person" client was in 2015, and in the last 8 years, I have worked with around 20,000 people online.⁣ ⁣

Not once have I thought that it was "impersonal" and "disconnected" because of how I managed to create that connection through my courses and programmes.⁣ ⁣

This is a limiting belief which holds a lot of coaches from leaning into online training and ends up keeping them stuck on the gym floor.⁣ ⁣ some great things you can do to for that "personal" touch online...⁣

👉 Video Check Ins (google "videoask")⁣

👉 Weekly Zoom Catch ups ⁣

👉 Monthly "In Person" Meet Ups⁣

👉 Voice Notes⁣

👉 Closed Facebook Groups

A recent study showed that 32% of relationships between 2015 and 2019 started online and will increase to over 50% by 2035.⁣ ⁣

If half the population can connect with their life partner online, I'm sure you will have no problem connecting with your online clients to build up that relationship.⁣

On a day-to-day basis, I feel like I am constantly hustling.

I am always trying to find new clients, networking, and building my online presence. It can be exhausting, and I often feel like I am not making progress.

Something I say to Personal Trainers is..⁣ ⁣

"Show me your calendar, and I'll show you your future."⁣ ⁣

Most Coaches are incredibly unorganised and don't allocate slots in their diaries for the things that matter to their fitness business.⁣ ⁣

What matters in your Fitness Business?⁣

  • Generating Leads⁣
  • Nurturing Your Audience⁣
  • Converting Your Followers into Clients⁣
  • Delivering exceptional service to your customers and clients⁣

Each one can have a regular slot in your diary, so you don't miss out on them, and every week you can measure and manage your results.⁣

  • How many email subscribers did I get this week?
  • How many followers did I get this week?
  • How many conversations did I start this week?
  • How many sales calls did I book this week?
  • How many clients did I sign up for this week?
  • Did I create a piece of content for every day of the week?

This is my Monday to Friday Diary this year. I have allocated time for writing, content creation, catching up with clients and team meetings to delegate work tasks.

I also feel like my income has been affected.

I used to be able to charge more for in-person training, but now I have to charge less for online training since it is more accessible to many people.

Another limiting belief Sam!

You can charge just as much for In-Person Training as long as you remember this important quote..

You are not paid for your time, you are paid for your mind

You’re also paid to GET A RESULT!

If a client could have you in their pocket with all their plans and programmes accessible without needing to travel to you every week and still get the desired result…

Do you think that is less valuable to the client? or more

(HINT: It’s more)

Yes, online training is more accessible to many people, so you have a BIGGER AUDIENCE to sell your services to.

You are no longer limited by location and can take on clients hundreds if not THOUSANDS of miles away!

Here are some interesting statistics for you…

  • There are 23,959 Personal Trainer Businesses Registered in the UK
  • There are 32,000,000 Instagram Users in the UK (10,000,000 between the age of 25-34)
  • 59% of those aged 25-34 are overweight or obese (5,900,000)
  • That's enough people on Instagram for every Personal Trainer Business to have 246 Clients just on Instagram Alone!

Wow, that certainly changes my perspective on a lot of things!

Thank You, Jay; that information is GOLD!

TL:DR

👉 There is no competition with your PT Business, Just COMPARISON

👉 It’s possible to have an incredible connection with your clients without meeting them in person

👉 If you want to stop hustling, get more organised on the things you need to do each week that are going to push the needle forward in your business

👉 You can charge just as much for Online training as you can for In-Person Training as long as you remember you are paid for getting a result and for your mind, not your time.

I hope this was of some value to you this week and helped you overcome some of your own “Limiting Beliefs.”

I’ll see you next week for some more Fitness Business Knowledge Bombs!
